PASTORAL COUNCIL (includes Communication Committee) [Note: The Building & Facilities Committee ["DreamTeam"] functions were returned to the Pastoral Council in November 2010 and the "Dream Team" is not active as a separate committee. The "Dream Team" will be re-established after needs assessment and long-range planning by the Pastoral Council.]
Members of the Parish Council work to:
• Support and foster the mission and ministry of Christ in the parish in collaboration with the Pastor, Parish Staff and other Consultative Bodies.
• Promote communication in the parish through discussion and dialogue.
• Foster understanding and cooperation between and among parishioners and parish organizations in keeping with norms established by the Archdiocese of Seattle and the universal Church.
• Recommend priorities, goals and policies to nurture the vitality of parish life and the spreading of the Gospel message through visioning, long range and strategic planning and implementation of actions adopted.
• Create and nurture community as a sign and witness of unity within the parish family and wider Church.
Members of the Finance Council work to:
• Advise and make recommendations to the Pastor and Pastoral Council regarding effective and responsible stewardship of parish financial resources.
• Develop and oversee parish budget and long‑range fiscal planning for operational and capital needs within the parish; oversee Stewardship and Annual Catholic Appeal campaigns.
Members of the Faith Formation Commission work to:
• Advise the Pastor and Faith Formation Staff and Catechists.
• Listen and provide input and recommendations on the catechetical, sacramental and faith formation policies and processes of all age groups in the parish community.
Members of the Liturgy Commission work in collaboration with the Pastor to:
• Identify and assess the worship and spiritual growth needs of the faith community.
• Recommend liturgical and sacramental policies and practices for the parish to the Pastor in keeping with the principles and guidelines of the archdiocese and universal Church.
• Prepare and evaluate the regular Sunday and special seasonal liturgical celebrations of the Church year.
Members of the Social justice Commission work with Pastor to further the Social justice mission and work of the Church and the parish by:
• Addressing justice issues and needs in the parish and wider community.
• Identifying worthy causes and providing recommendations to the Pastor for appropriate parish involvement and allocation of parish financial resources.
• Educating the parish family on the biblical and practical principles of Catholic social teaching and how we can best serve our brothers and sisters in need locally, nationally and globally.
