Liturgy Commission

Purpose of the Liturgy Commission

The LITURGY COMMISSION is a consultative  body with whom the Pastor collaborates in order to assess the spiritual and liturgical (worship) needs of the parish and to provide direction for the broad goals, strategic planning and policies governing those needs.

The Commission provides the Pastor and other parish consultitive bodies (e.g., the Pastoral Council and Faith Formation Commission), with advice concerning spiritual and liturgical renewal in the parish and recommends to the Pastor sacramental policies and practices consistent with the norms established by the Archdiocese of Seattle and the universal Church.  The Commission is also to support the priorities and policies of the parish as established by the Pastor in consultation with the Pastoral Council.

The Functions of the Liturgy Commission

  • To model servant leadership and to foster communication and consultation among Commission members and between the Commission and other parish consultative bodies and organizations
  • To be familiar with all aspects of liturgical policy and practice as governed by the norms of the Archdiocese of Seattle and the universal Church
  • To recommend strategies and methods for spiritual and liturgical renewal and education for all parishioners
  • To insure the development of the various liturgical ministries and the preparation of, ongoing education of, and training or all parish liturgical ministers
  • To be familiar with the needs and the quality of parish liturgical practice and the celebration of the sacraments, and to plan and implement the regular and special liturgical celebrations of the Church year.
