ALTAR SERVERS
Altar servers perform the liturgical function of assisting the priest or deacon by taking responsibility for many of the details in the preparation of the altar and vessels for weekend Masses and other special celebrations of the Church year. They also serve at weddings and funerals as needed. We invite both male and female servers, and adults as well as children, to become a part of this ministry. Requirements for a child are that he or she be at least nine years of age, have received Eucharist for the first time and be able to understand and carry out their responsibilities appropriately and with reverence. Training will be provided.
ANNULMENT ADVOCATES
These trained Church Ministers work with parishioners to help persons seeking marriage annulments. They help parishioners with the Church's understanding of marriage, case types, basic procedures, form review and they assist in filing forms with the Archdiocesan Tribunal.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Eucharistic Ministers are trusted with the important duty of distributing Holy Communion to the assembly who gather together for worship at Mass, and of bringing Communion to the sick in the hospital, the homebound, those confined to nursing homes and those in danger of death. The ministry of the Eucharistic Minister is an important one which calls for sensitivity, care and compassion in reaching out to our brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ. Training is provided for those who serve at Mass as well as for those who serve in the outreach ministries to the sick and confined. Prospective Eucharistic Minister candidates must be baptized, confirmed practicing Catholics, at least sixteen years of age and in good standing in the Church. All of our weekend liturgies, as well as our outreach ministries, are in need of additional ministers. Contact: George Kevins 479-0548, gkevins@home.com
ENVIRONMENT GROUP
One of the most vital and creative of all the liturgical ministries is that of the church environment. Because the assembly gathers in the presence of God, the climate of our liturgical celebrations and our worship as a community is one of mystery, wonder, thanksgiving and praise. Our church decorating should reflect these qualities and strive always to capture that which is most beautiful and that which helps us to more fully and completely enter into prayer. The imagination, creativity and giftedness of many people is essential to creating a worship environment that is both hospitable and prayerful. We have need of creative leaders to help enhance our church environment as well as many helpers who can assist in the creation, putting up and taking down of decorations and banners. All of those who are interested are invited to help in this ministry.
GIFT SHOP
St. Anthony's Gift Shop belongs to Holy Trinity Parish and is managed by volunteers Delia Mataban and Vickie Troche. All profits from sales are spent for whatever projects Father deems necessary. Over the past few years, St. Anthony's has shared in the purchase of many pieces of equipment. In the shop you will find books, rosaries, candies, holy cards, statues and many other symbols of our faith. Come in on Sunday morning and look around. If you don't find what you like, it can be ordered for you. If you have a special need, please call the Parish office and they will assist you.
GREETERS
Christian tradition has always held hospitality in the highest esteem. Throughout the Old and New Testaments hospitality is understood as a basic service that all Christians are obliged to extend to each other. Our parish greeters help to create a climate of hospitality for all of our liturgical celebrations by extending the warmth of welcome and helping all who gather for worship to know that their presence with us is important. Greeters serve the community before every liturgical celebration. Training is provided for this special ministry of welcome.
LECTORS
The proclamation of the Word in the midst of the People of God when they gather for worship is a ministry that belongs to the Lector. Lectors carry out this vital function during the celebrations of the Eucharist, sacraments and other rites. Training is provided to help lectors be effective proclaimers of the Scriptures. Prospective candidates must be baptized, confirmed practicing Catholics, at least sixteen years of age and in good standing with the Church. If married, they should be in a valid marriage celebrated in the Church. All our weekend liturgies are in need of additional qualified lectors.
MUSIC MINISTRY (PARISH CHOIRS)
Our parish has a unified Music Ministry designed to serve the needs of the worshipping assembly. Our singers and other musicians minister at all liturgies, leading the people in song and providing music appropriate for the day in settings ranging from unison singing to multiple part renditions. The Ministry provides musical leadership at all feasts, holidays and observances, as well as funerals and weddings.
Cantors, essential as psalmists and individual musical leaders, are selected from and are an integral part of the body of musicians.
The talents of the children of the parish are utilized as well in our Angel Choir (K-3) and Jubilation! (4-8) for music at Mass. In the spring, the children in Jubilation! join with other young singers in a Choir Festival in the Seattle area. Our Angel Choir sings at local nursing homes and similar facilities.
For the enjoyment of the parish community, the Music Ministry presents a holiday Tree-Lighting and Wassail concert performance on the first Sunday of Advent to begin the seasonal anticipation of the birth of the Savior.
On Monday of Holy Week, we present The Way Of the Cross, a meditation on the last day in the life of Jesus, performed by parishioners in costume and scene settings in silent tableaux. It is accompanied by an original musical score sung and played by the members of the Music Ministry.
We welcome new members of all ages into this ministry, not only as singers but as instrumental performers. We work with volunteers of differing levels of skill, providing training and uniting them in a cohesive program. Inquiries should be directed to Joyce Paxson, Pastoral Assistant for Music, at the parish office, 377-7674.
PRAYER GROUPS CENACLE PRAYER GROUP
A group of committed Catholics who gather as Mary and the Apostles did in the Upper Room (Cenacle of the Holy Spirit. This group, under the mantle of Mary, meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Chapel to pray for priests, for the Church in general, for our parish that we will be guided by the Holy Spirit. All are invited.
PRAYER CHAIN
A group of parishioners who are available to pray for any intentions called in to them. Prayer needs for thanksgiving or petitions are welcome. The intentions are passed by our prayer phone chain from one member to the next. Please utilize this group, for Christ said "Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am in their midst".
ROSARY PRAYER GROUP
This group meets daily after the 8:30 Mass in the Chapel and on Sunday after the 8:00 a.m. Mass in the Church to pray the Rosary. All are welcome.
USHERS
Ushers have long provided the service of hospitality in our Sunday assemblies and other special liturgical celebrations. In addition to handing out bulletins, assisting the congregation with seating and approaching the altar table for Communion, and taking up the collection, the usher is a host who acts on behalf of the community and is truly caring about people. The usher is the one who helps people to believe that their presence in the assembly is important and welcomed. Young adults and both men and women who represent a broad cross-section of the community are invited to share in this ministry of service and care. On the job training is provided by parishioners already active in this ministry.
VOLUNTEER-DISCIPLE COORDINATING TEAM
The focus of this ministry is to have Holy Trinity become a community where volunteers are actively sought, trained and supported in ministry.
